The Honourable Justice Lobban Jackson

Senior Judge Appointee

The Honourable Justice Lobban Jackson received her Bachelor of Arts Degree (Hons) in History and Philosophy in 1993 from the Mona Campus of the University of the West Indies (UWI), Jamaica; and a Bachelor of Laws Degree in 1996 from the UWI Cave Hill Campus in Barbados. She obtained a Certificate of Legal Education from the Norman Manley Law School in Jamaica and was first admitted to practice as an Attorney at-Law in 1998. After leaving Law School, she worked as a Clerk of the Parish Court in Jamaica.

From 2000-2005, Justice Lobban Jackson was a Prosecutor, and then Senior Prosecutor in the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP) in Jamaica and from 2005-2016, a Senior Prosecutor in the Cayman Islands’ ODPP. She acquired over eighteen years’ experience in advocacy in the Magistrate’s Court, Supreme Court and Court of Appeal and has training in the areas of Child Safeguarding, Human Trafficking, Money Laundering, and Case Management.

Justice Lobban Jackson was appointed Chief Magistrate of the Turks and Caicos Islands in August 2016 where she was also ex officio Coroner for the Islands and Mutual Legal Assistance Treaty (MLAT) Authority, with responsibility for hearing extradition cases. She was appointed as a Judge of the TCI Supreme Court on March 30, 2020. Since then, she has been involved in training new members of the bench and sat on the Committees which drafted Code of Conduct and Disciplinary Rules for Judges in the Turks and Caicos Islands. She is currently Chairman of the TCI Mediation Committee; and the TCI Legal Information Institute (TCI LII) which provides free electronic access to local judgements in the Turks and Caicos Islands.

Justice Lobban Jackson was sworn in as Chairman of the Integrity Commission in December 2021 and is the first resident judge to be appointed to the position.
