PRESS RELEASE:
Premier Hon. Charles Washington Misick’s
International Anti-Corruption Day 2025 Remarks
Dear Turks and Caicos Islands Community,
As we join the global community in observing International Anti-Corruption Day, we are reminded that integrity, transparency, and accountability are the pillars upon which strong nations are built. This year’s theme, “Uniting with Youth Against Corruption, Shaping Tomorrow’s Integrity,” speaks directly to the responsibility we share in preparing for a future that is just, fair, and full of opportunity.
Around the world, young people are increasingly affected by the consequences of corruption, whether through unequal access to education, limited employment opportunities, or weakened public trust. Yet they are also among the most powerful agents for change. With 1.9 billion youth worldwide, their innovation, courage, and willingness to challenge injustice make them indispensable partners in this fight.
A recent international youth essay competition revealed a resounding message: young people often feel the impact of corruption first and most deeply. They understand how it drains resources, derails development, and erodes hope. Their voices remind us that combating corruption is not only a governance issue, but also a moral obligation and a promise to protect them tomorrow.
Here in the Turks and Caicos Islands, our government remains steadfast in promoting strong institutions, ethical leadership, and a culture where integrity is the norm. We will continue to support education, emerging technologies, and platforms that empower our youth to lead with honesty, courage, and purpose.
On this International Anti-Corruption Day, I urge every citizen—especially our young people—to remain steadfast in upholding integrity and justice. Together, we can shape a future built not on fear or uncertainty, but on trust, transparency, and opportunity for all.
May we continue working hand in hand to shape a more transparent and resilient Turks and Caicos Islands.
Yours truly,
Hon. Charles Washington Misick Premier of the Turks and Caicos Islands.
