Dudley Been
Appointee of The Leader of the Opposition

A born Turks and Caicos Islander, hailing from the quaint Island of Grand Turk and affectionately remembers his roots, as a “West Roadian”. Dudley Been is passionate about development in his Country, having served in the Parliament, the courts office, and offered his time and ability as a Returning Officer, in the General elections. In his retirement, he continues to engage himself in the welfare and best interest of matters of national importance, such as serving as a juror on various occasions, and now making himself available to contribute to the governance and purpose of the Integrity Commission.
PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT
Dudley dedicated 17 plus years serving as Bailiff and Deputy Clerk in the court system of Turks and Caicos and is remembered as being fair and impartial in his duties. His experience consisted of adjudication of civil, criminal, matrimonial, probate and administration matters in both the Magistrate and Supreme Courts. Additionally, he had the responsibility of ensuring that civil and criminal matters were properly supported by the ordinances, under which the charges were brought, and that the charges had the bona fides to advance. In Parliament, he served the functions of the Parliamentary system for 11 years. In his role to provide support to the speaker of the house and its members, he pursued knowledge and was keen on performing researches, to strengthen house members with parliamentary practices and debates, and their delivery to the people. Mr. Been attended and participated in several regional and plenary Commonwealth Parliamentary Association conferences, throughout the Commonwealth.
After 12 years with the Ports Authority, Dudley retired as Safety and Security Risk Manager. In this role he was trained and certified in level 5, “Train the Trainer” for maritime security by the United Kingdom Department for Transportation as an instructor. He participated in the Port becoming compliant with the International Ship and Port Facility Security (ISPS) Code, to accommodate internationally compliant vessels, trading with the United States and beyond.
