Wendall Swann
Appointee of The Premier
Wendal Swann is an attorney practising before the various courts of the Turks and Caicos Islands since 2001, and briefly held the office of Vice President of the Labour Tribunal.
His legal education was acquired at the University of Wales at Aberystwyth, and the College of Law of England and Wales in Chester, and he was Vice President of the Bar Council of the Turks and Caicos Islands for several years.
Before he practised law, Mr. Swann was an Elected Member of the Legislative Council in the early nineties, and an Appointed Member of the House of Assembly at the end of the first decade of the millennium. He served briefly as Minister of Government after the first suspension of ministerial administration in the Islands.
Mr. Swann has also previously been in several positions of public service, including; the Public Service Commission, the Constitutional Change Commission, the Blue Ribbon Committee on Immigration, the All-Party Commission on the Constitution and Electoral Reform, the Electoral District Boundaries Commission, and the Delegation to the London Constitutional Conference in 2011. He presently serves on the Civil Legal Aid Panel.
He represented the Turks and Caicos Islands at Caribbean meetings of the United Nations Sub-Committee on Decolonisation, and had audience with the Sub-Committee at UN Headquarters in New York.
In addition to his legal qualification, Commissioner Swann is Certified as a Director by the Caribbean Governance Training Institute, and has been Notary Public and Justice of the Peace for two decades.
He is native to Blue Hills, Providenciales, and, having spent significant periods abroad, he has lived on Providenciales since 1982.
